Uju Anya - Controversial but iconic in resilience.

A lady of Nigerian heritage, who resides in the United States, Uju Anya has transformed in status from more than a university professor to what some have coined an inspiration and growing icon. Uju Anya is a professor at Carnegie university who made major headlines after tweeting her thoughts and feelings about the death of the Queen of the United Kingdom (Elizabeth II), saying “I heard the chief monarch of a thieving, raping, genocidal empire is finally dying. May her pain be excruciating.”

Queen Elizabeth II died on the 8th of September 2022 in her holiday home at Balmoral castle in Scotland. She died at the age of 96 under medical supervision, surrounded by many of her royal family members as well. The Monarch came to the throne at just the age of 25 in the year 1952, leading as Queen of the UK and other Commonwealth realms after her father King George VI passed from lung Cancer.

Uju Anya, although exclaiming thoughts of many Africans, sparked a global outcry after her tweet. Many have criticised her for her thoughts and accused her of being a ‘hater and disgraceful’, however, others have commended her for her courage and determination in exposing the Queen and her British empire’s history on the extortion and extreme abuse on Millions of Africans, with traumatizing effects that is still present today.

British disgraced and highly opinionated broadcaster Piers Morgan took to twitter, to reply to Dr. Anya, inviting her for an interview in his show so she could ‘repeat her remarks to his face. As the 'honey-glazed gammon' looking presenter's show is suffering in ratings, it is a no brainer he would be eager to have a heated debate about the Queen.
